I have an old package of Acacia that lists 1 tsp equal to 2 grams of fiber. But on the website, the information says 1 tsp has 2.5 grams of fiber. Has the product changed? Should I count my older version of Acacia as 2 grams of fiber per level teaspoon or 2.5 grams?

Thanks!

which says there are 2 grams of soluble fiber in every 2.5 grams, which is 1 level teaspoon.

I have a new bag that says what Melitami's can says: 1 level teaspoon is about 2.5 grams and contains 2 grams of soluble fiber. However, the sticky post at the top of this Board says there are 2.5 grams of SF per level teaspoon of acacia AND there was a long thread about this a while back where Heather said there were 2.5 grams of SF per level teaspoon AND if acacia is pure SF then 2.5 grams of acacia must be 2.5 grams of SF.

So I'm assuming that fractional grams of fiber are not shown on nutritional labels and that 1 teaspoon of acacia contains 2.5 grams of SF.

Truly, though, I don't think it makes a lot of difference. I started taking a little bit of acacia every day and increased my dosage slowly until I felt good with the amount I was taking. My package says the maximum dose is 4 level TABLEspoons, so as long as you're taking less than that, I wouldn't worry too much about that .5 gram difference.

I think the change in labeling was because there was some confusion with regard to level tbsp, heaped tbsp, scant tbsp etc... on the old packaging (and, I *think*, the website reflects the old packaging). So the new packaging is probably the one to go by.

But yeah, I agree with Sand. Don't worry too much about it

the confusion was supposedly cleared up on the Website and the can and the bag. They should all say 2.5 grams of SF per level measuring teaspoon. I went back and found the long thread I was thinking about:

I was trying to find that thread, Sand...but I typed in so many words for the search without luck, I finally gave up. I really didn't pay attention to it at the time because I wasn't planning on taking the Acacia.

I started with 1/4 tsp today along with my psyllium at night. I guess that's still pretty low! I'll kick it up to 1/4 tsp x 2 tomorrow, but I guess that's still only 1 gram of fiber.
