Hi, I was wondering if maltodextrin is bad for ibs? And also should protein supplements, specifically whey-protein be considered dairy-products and therefore bad because it comes from milk?

All dairy products, inc. whey are triggers. Try a soy or spirutein (sp?) protein powder instead.
Not sure about maltodextrin, but I think it's okay - not sure tho.

According to this Website, maltodextrin is one of the ingredients that "OFTEN contain MSG or create MSG during processing". Some people with IBS can tolerate MSG, some can't. I'm in the "can't" camp, so I would avoid it, but if you're stable you can give it a try and see how you do.
