Hi everyone. I hardly ever post but have gotten such great help from just "lurking" and seeeing what everybody else does. I just wanted to tell everyone of the success I have had using triphala and practising yoga. I had to be patient with the triphala but now I wouldn't be without it. I have a BM everyday and no, really absolutely no, bloating. I have been a fitness instructor for 20 yrs and never had abs like this because I was always a little,or alot, bloated.I now have hip bones! The help from the yoga was immediate. If I miss to many days, I don't feel as well as when I stay with my practise. I also teach yoga but that is totally different than practising. I hope this helps someone.

Hi Jaime, No, triphala is an 'ayurvedic' herbal remedy. It's a mixture of three Indian herbs, Haritaki,Bibhitaki, and Amalaki. It's typically sold in HFS's. Generally you take two 500mg capsules per day.Beth(Augie) and I are taking it, but neither of us have noticed any benefits from it,and I've been taking it for about two months. I think it's primarily for C, but may work for D. -Bob

Here's a link that helps explain Triphala. Triphala The important parts are 1. it is not an addictive laxative that you become dependent on and is suppose to be safe to use daily for the rest of your life, if you want. And 2. it is suppose to actually tone your insides the longer you use it.
That's what I have read, not what I'm saying. I'm not a scientist, so I am taking it on faith. The fact that Dr. Andrew Weil supports it's safety and use for constipation makes me feel better since he is more Legit and "conservative" in his advice, at least in my opinion. I don't think he would recommend something that was harmful.

4000mg!!!! Wow, I've been just taking 1000 per day, maybe that's why it's not doing anything noticeable. I think that's what Dr.Weil recommended, I'll have to check when I go home now. Thanks for the link! -Bob

It took about a month for me to see a big difference although I noticed little things right away. I started by taking a larger dose and have now lowered it to what I am thinking of as maintanence. As with all natural treatments, it takes longer to see results and it can be very individualized. But that is what I think the beauty of natural healing is, individualized to each person, not cookie cutter because we are all different and unique HTH
