I find that every single type of dessert gives me problems. chocolate constipates me, non dairy ice creams bloat me and most of them have trace amounts of dairy anyway, which is ridiculous since the manufacturers are marketing these products specifically to people with lactose intolerance and ibs. does anyone have any suggestions?

check out the Recipe Exchange. Meringues are good if you have no cream on them, the antidepressant brownies are very very good and very very safe. When dining out its very difficult to find a safe dessert, I find I have fruit salad (after a safe meal) when I am being good but I can get away with a dessert cheat if I have eaten safely.

I recently went out for dinner with my friends for my birthday and for my dessert, the restaurant (Kelseys for you other ontarians!;)) made me a strawberry-dairy free smoothie and it was great! Just a suggestion...

Sorbet is generally good. Haagen Dazs does say it may contain traces of dairy though. Sharon's sorbet is dairy free and very yummy.

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Whole foods sorbet doesn't list any dairy. I have done fine with that. But I do have a problem with overeating the stuff. I have the same problem with the Junior mints and licorice. They don't bother my stomach but I just can't stop with a little bit so I quit buying them for now. When I lose more weight I may get them once in a while for a treat. But I do love Heather's zuchini bread and it's filling enough to eat just a little.
