thanks, everyone, for all the support and advice about the whole date thing. it was so great to have a place to vent my neuroses and figure out how to work this all out.
i ate only SF yesterday, took an imodium before going out and then extra SFS when i got off the subway, and drank a cranberry martini - and can i say, that having pretty much abstained from drinking for a few months, and not having eaten anything heavy all day, that drink hit me *fast*. but i still made it through the night completely ibs-free. it's great to know that once in a (long) while, if i'm careful, i can have a drink and survive. (before i was diagnosed with ibs, i had a couple episodes of throwing up after only a couple of drinks, and never understood why i was getting sick without even being very drunk.)
and as for the date, well, it was fine. nice, i suppose. we'll see about that. but hey, i'm not sick! we take what victories we can.
thanks again.

Sounds like a, well, nice evening. I'm so glad the IBS stuff worked out for you.
