I just moved to Houghton, MI to start college at MTU. The water up here is loaded with iron and other minerals. Is it safe to drink for a person with IBS or will it cause me to go into attacks? I've heard that iron pills cause C and I figure iron in the water will do the same. This would be fine cause I'm primarily IBS-D. Thanks for any info you can give me.

I don't know the answer to that for sure, but did you ever think of getting a Brita? I keep a pitcher in my fridge at all times and that's all I drink. It might strain out the unwanted minerals for you!

Hi Dan, I live up here and teach in the Math Dept. at Tech. Back in Jan. I developed a severe case of IBS. I'm not sure if it's C or D. My problem is with spasms, my sigmoid colon spasms to nearly shut at times preventing me from going. I never thought about the water being the problem. However, I've only had the bad spasms for about the last two months, and I've been drinking the water all along. Although Kree's suggestion might still be a good idea. -Bob
