If I eat raw apples or raw concord grapes, I get a red rash with white tingly bumps all around my lips and chin. I asked my allergist about this, and, after testing me for and ruling out every food allergy under the sun, he found that I'm actually allergic to the pollen that the apple tree and grape vine produce. So, there is no risk of my throat ever closing up or anythign like that, but I will probably always have a hystamine reaction on my skin from the contact. If the food is cooked (juice, in a pie, whatever) I'm fine. He also said there is no danger of eating them raw, as long as I don't mind the little rash. Could be that's what's going on wiht you?

that is an interesting idea, I never thought of that. Sometimes, I do get an itchy bump or two (like the size of a mosquito bite) on my upper and lower lip, makes me look like I have giant lips! Maybe it's all the same thing? How confusing! --Steph
