Need advise from someone who knows... I got this private message from someone on ibsgroup.org and wanted a second, third, fifth opinion before I go and hurt myself with some bad food. Please read the following and advise:

Hi,

I have not had to lose that much weight, but I have had good results
from a fat burning bar called the Access Bar. No matter the level of
activity, it will help you burn more fat than you otherwise would. I have
lost 10 lbs in a month, doing no more than rideing my bike to work and
walking my dog in the evening. (I always did that before with no
change in my weight. I started adding one of these bars and was losing a
pound a day during the workweek.) I was convinced to try it by a woman
who lost 40 lbs. last winter just by walking.

Well, what you need to know, and what I couldn't find for you in an internet search, is the ingredients in an Access Bar. Do they contain dairy, insoluble fiber, or even just more protein than your body can handle? Then avoid them. The only way to find out may be to find a store that carries them and read the label.

As a side note, a pound a day of weight loss is unrealistic unless you were eating nothing BUT an energy bar! Not to disparage the person who private-messaged you, but is there a chance s/he was trying to sell you on the Access Bars for some reason other than genuine care for your situation? I would think about that before accepting his/her advice.

...I'm always wary of things that claim such a large weight loss over a small period of time. I think it's likely to be untrue or else downright bad for you! It's not healthy to lose so much weight so fast.

I could be wrong but I would be careful. As for the IBS safe factor you would need to get your hands on one and check the ingredients. Jusr because it's low fat doesn't mean it's IBS safe.

This sounds pretty shady. Is it from someone who posts regularly on the boards...if not then why didn't they introduce themselves to the rest of the boards. Instead just sending a message to you.

I would probably steer clear of this advice just because it seems shady!

I totally agree with all of you, which is why I posted this in the first place. I've lost weight in the past and rather rapidly just cuz of the amount I have to lose, but I can use all the help I can get, lol. I think I'll pass on the bars unless someone out there tells me they have tried them, they didn't hurt them, and they maybe helped. My next goal is to try and make the very complex veggie soup listed on this site!
