no problem..

I actually eat this alone without any SF before, because it contains alot of SF on its own.

I basically eat it first thing when I wake up for breakfast and occassionally for a snack without problems.

I would love to eat this as a snack since it has 6 grams of total fiber, but I'm not sure it is safe enough. It doesn't isolate the SF from the IF (when oh when are companies going to start doing that...don't they know there are IBS people out here ).

Any further comments on eating this as a snack?

Beth, The higher SF/IF ratio, or the 'fiber factor' is because
of the shredded oats in it. -Bob

Okay, I looked at the website again and here is the link for the Shredded Spoonfuls (I didn't post this one originally). Shredded Spoonfuls This is on the safe snack list...but does it look safe as a snack to eat in between meals without an SF? Or even for breakfast with some blueberries or strawberries and some flax?

Are you sensitive to whole wheat? If so, this might not work for you as an 'in between meals' snack. Some people (like me) are more sensitive to whole wheat than others.

I might have missed this in a past post, but have you tried plain old Cheerios? They are my safety net between meals.

Nope, haven't tried the cheerios. I was trying to get more fiber into my diet and the Shredded Spoonfuls has 4 grams compared to the in Cheerios.

I was concerned about the Oat Bran and Corn Bran too. I thought since the whole wheat flour was listed further down on the ingredient list, that it wouldn't contain that much.

I guess I assumed anything on the safe snack list was okay...so I am surprised this cereal is listed.

Maybe you can add something IF with the Cheerios to add more fiber? That way the Cheerios act as your soluble safety net and the IF adds more fiber. If you're having trouble and don't feel adventerous now, this may be something to try down the road.

That's why it depends on your whole wheat sensitivity. For some people, it may not bother them. And I've had no problems with the corn bran and oat bran. Probably why I love Cheerios so much. I figure if they're easy on a baby's developing stomach, then they should be fine for me!

Unfortunately this goes back to the "everyone is different" reason. Someone might consider one thing to be a safe food for them, while it reaks havoc for another person. For instance, some people list bananas as their safe food (B-R-A-T diet, for example), but they used to give me tons of problems. Only recently has my body decided to start accepting them again.
