Hi all,
I generally avoid dairy like the plauge these days. Occasionally, if I'm suspicious of something having a trace of dairy, I'll pop a lactaid to counter any lactose. I did that very thing on Sunday, and I ended up unable to eat anything at all for two days due to terrible upset stomach. I accidently ate a sandwich from Tesco last night that said it contained a little butter (it looked safe to begin with, it was only after I ate it that I read the ingredients), so I took a lactaid. Blech! I still feel awful this morning. Does anyone else have trouble with lactaid? Does anyone know why this happens? It's so bad that I've decided that if I do make a mistake and eat something with a trace of dairy that I'll just wait and see if I have gas and D rather than trade that for a definate upset tummy

Reading that post really opened my eyes! I'm surprised that lactase would upset our tummys so much, but I belive that somehow it is just not tolerated well by some of us. Well, I guess from now on if I suspect I accidently had a little dairy that it is better to suffer a little gas and possible D than be sick and nearly puking for two days.
Again, thanks so much!

no problem.. I found that the negative affects of lactaid outweighed the good.
good luck.
