I use salad vinegar on veggies instead of salad dressing. I don't think it does anything one way or the other for me.

I use vinegars--great fat free flavour enhancers, etc. It doesn't impact my IBS. If you have GERD or an ULCER, I'd avoid it, though. There are some really great vinegars out there, incidentally and it's fun to make some of your own concoctions. I love making herb/flower vinegars and berry vinegars when berries are in season.
Sometimes, you really need something "sour" or "tart" or "tangy"/"zingy." I love rice vinegar or seasoned rice vinegar, balsalmic, cider, raspberry, papaya, etc.

I haven't had any problems w/ vinegar, which I add to pasta salads, soups, dips (I love the "tangy" taste of it!). However, its acidity can bother some people with IBS and, as Wind mentioned, avoid it if you have GERD. You'll probably have to experiment a bit to find out how much (if any) you can tolerate.

Great advice here, so I have nothing to add! In a nutshell: vinegar is fine in moderation (and a great way to enhance flavour w/out fat), but avoid it if you have problems with acids/GERDS etc...
