Stress and anxiety make my tummy hurt and increase IBS symptoms. Lately, I have been stressing over my IBS (vicious circle). Any safe and natural remedies to minimize anxiety?

Try yoga several times a day. You can also try St Johns Wort.

I'd try the IBS Audio 100 hypnotherapy. I can never say enough about how much it helped with my stress and anxiety from IBS.

I use aromatherapy oils. "Rescue Remedy" (based on Bach flower remedies) is a lifesaver. There's a lotion, too. Yoga, and MEDITATION, N.L.P. are things I do daiy. I find, too, when I eat less sugars I am less anxious. Avoiding caffeine and stimulants, is another thing. MUSIC--the sound factor can really move your mind beyond the PANIC, the anxiety, give you another focus to mentally, psychically cling too.

I use rescue remedy too, along with gelseminum and ignacia. They work great to calm the jitters, especially if I have a presentation due at work I'm stressing over.

Rescue remedy has alcohol in it though, so watch out if you're taking medicines that react with alcohol (like codiene).

I carry the new spray bottle version with me. Just spray it on my tongue like breath spray. Not sure if it helps though.

Stress is my BIGGEST trigger!! I've introduced 100mg of 5-htp to my diet, and it has really helped. I can't go any higher without stomach upset, so I've been at 100mg for almost 8 months. Hope this helps! I primarily take this for PMS though, but I'm sure it helps my IBS too!

Is this something you ingest? Can you tell us more about it? Where do you get it?

Amino Acid supplement that is a precusor to seratonin. It raises the seratonin levels in the bloodstream and has been proven to really help anxiety in many folks. 5-hydroxytriptophan.
