Hi, Are grits o.k. to eat on the diet? I don't find them mentioned in either book. WS

Yes, they're fine. In fact, if you do a board search you'll find lots of posts and even some recipes. Folks love grits!

Yeah, but who likes PLAIN grits? They're only good with butter, cheese and/or bacon on them. Or shrimp and grits, like we have around here!

Please excuse my ignorance, but what are grits?
As far as I am aware, we don't have them in Australia?

Grits are ground dried corn cooked into a cereal with a similar texture to cream of wheat/farina. By non-IBSers, they are often eaten with some combination of butter, cheese, garlic, or gravy, but those of us with IBS can eat them with some sugar or honey or maple syrup. They're one of my favorite breakfast foods.
