Hi there,
I just wanted to say Welcome to the boards and good luck on finding some valuable information that will hopefully help your tummy out!
I am personally allergic to bananas so won't be much help with your question but if you go to the 'Search' at the top of the page and search for bananas on the Eating for IBS board, you should find loads of information from past posts.
Good luck, and welcome again! Feel free to ask questions any time!!
Cheers! --Steph

First, bananas are constipating in general, so you may not want to include them as a C .
For me, a D, I hated bananas for years, then discovered I like them now if they're a little underripe. I was so excited, I ate almost three at one time.... and then got crampy and bloaty, which I usually don't get anymore.
Everything in moderation, I guess...

this has come up a few times on the boards, some people can tolerate them, others can't. The less ripe they are the more of a constipating like effect they may have, the more ripe and brownish they are the more likely to cause D in those that are D predominant. I eat them with soluble fiber if they are alittle ripe ( I am an 'A')... if they are just turned yellow I can eat one by itself.

The only realy problem I have had with Bananas are that they can be binding if you are C. So again if you are in a C bout I wouldn't eat them.

I can ONLY eat them cooked in bread, and then only in small amounts!

There are lots of foods Heather finds safe that are not for me. Her diet is very tolerant, so you'll have to try foods yourself to see what you can have. I can't touch bananas or oatmeal, soy and peppermint. These all give me cramping and painful gas, and make me have D.
Try everything once, and use Heather's diet as a guideline! She found her safe diet and you have to find yours. Lots of luck to you!
