Thank you, thank you, thank you. This problem was driving me nuts, because if I clicked on a link and then wandered off into some virtual thicket, my original search was so far "Back" that I simply couldn't get to it - or at any rate I wasn't willing to click my "Back" button 10 million times.
For anyone else who has a Mac (yeah, right) with that slick mouse that doesn't have any buttons, hold down the "control" key and click. You'll get a little menu. Pick "Open Link In New Window".

You just have to remember to close the new window after you've finished...I always end up with ten million windows open..and likely as not, me replying to posts in more than one!
