Hi, Bourget -
Sounds like you've been having it rough! By the way, how do you know you "constantly have inflammation"? Have you had more than the one colonoscopy? Or does your doctor palpate your abdomen to find tender areas that might indicate inflammation? Constant inflammation of the colon isn't normal and it's not healthy - I think your "wondering" is probably a good little nudge to get a second opinion - especially when your primary care leans one way and the specialist can't find anything, but you still have the problem. It would seem reasonable to me for your primary care to send you to a second gastro doc to find out for sure what's going on, to definitely rule out Inflammatory Bowel Disease (which can take some pretty serious forms - but which can also have a mild form, treatable sometimes by one or two courses of meds). Just a thought .... for what it's worth.
Blessings, Kaybee C

....The info in your second post, about how the IBS-related diarrhea irritates the colon, is a great point. That's what I think, Bourget, you might want to find out for sure: is the inflammation a RESULT of the diarrhea from IBS, or, is the inflammation part of a disease process like colitis which PRODUCES the diarrhea? It's important to keep tabs on this and not let a few months go by in which you're not getting treatment - if indeed there is a disease process going on (as apposed to the symptoms of IBS, which is a "functional disorder", not a disease. Make sense?). Keep on top of this, for your health's sake!

My doctor has indicated that thorugh blood tests, they've noticed inflammation, in the colonoscopy I had inflammation. I'm not sure if its constant, but I know whenever I have a "flare up" I do have inflammation. I get flare ups quite a bit lately. Thats what I meant when I said constantly. I've had other tests like ultrasounds etc. I also have a lot of spamsing...like this recent flare up I'm trying to get rid of, I"ve had it for the past 2 weeks, and there is so much spasming, that sometimes I stand up and "go to the bathroom"...when I have the spasming, I literally have no control over my bowels, which is pretty embarrasing, being 27.
