Hi All,
My company has sent out a note to all team members asking for a suggestions for it's 2004 Philanthropic interests.
As IBS is so close to my heart (and other places)and from what I have heard is sadly lacking in reseach, which I am sure would benefit all of us, Does anyone know of any IBS related research funds to I can put forward?

Would the UNC or UCLA functional gut disorder research centers be appropriate here? Do you know if they're set up to receive charitable funds as Tim asks?
Tim, your request is terrific, and it just kills me that I don't know immediately right where to send you. I guess that points up the need for an IBS foundation. There is the IFFGD, but they lobby exclusively for pharmaceutical research (and the pharma companies support the IFFGD, so it's a big drug money circle that I'm really not comfortable recommending). They completely ignore non-drug approaches to IBS, including trying to get research into these areas (like hypnotherapy and diet). If this has changed, please let me know, and I'll look into their new efforts.
But for now, the university research centers are the best avenues I can think of. There should be Australian equivalents as well, so you could donate more locally.
Best, Heather

Thanks Heather, I will check it out from this end. There are limited funds set aside by the Company for Philanthropic interests and this year is the first that they have sent the call out to staff to nominate, so I will let you know the outcome if I can find a suitable organisation and am successful in securing funds.
