I have to force myself to eat- as much as it just makes the fullness feel worse and worse-- Because if I stop eating I won't restart until I feel better. But the cycle is- that when I stop eating I don't feel better because that just makes it worse, the acids churning around in my tummy. Isn't good. But I do try to keep something in my stomach. This may not be the proper thing to do but I do it anyway. This probably didn't help but I wanted to reply just to let you kow someone else out there has to make those same decisions also. :-)Melissa

Not saying this will cure the C but it has alot of vitamins and nutrients... Just a suggestion Hope he is feeling better soon. Melissa

or some form of milk, although they say lactose free. So Boost and Ensure are out for us.
Yes, the V8 could be a problem with tomatoes.

Thank you for your suggestions! My grandfather's not doing too well--the family got some not so good cancer-related news today--but he's had a good life. I just want him to be comfortable and the C makes him really grouchy! Thanks again!

Boost and Ensure contain a lot of fat. That could aggravate an IBS attack. Most protein powders (rice protein or soy protein) are quite low in fat and high in nutrients. Just be wary of the types of sweeteners. Some of them contain guar gum, which kind of loosens things up. Blended with fresh or frozen fruit they are wonderful and great if you require a protein perk/boost. I use a rice protein powder. Green drinks often contain whey and other ingredients which might aggitate an individual with IBS--D.
