Hi
this is my first post here, not sure if this is the right place to be putting this. I have had IBs for years with fairly predictable symptoms. In the last two months it has changed dramatically in terms of being constipated all the time. I eat all the right foods, exercise, drink water etc etc but nothing seems to help. I recently saw my Gastro person who prescribed Miralax for me, and said I have IBS with constipation. Is this normal to change so drastically. I am 53 years old, and I am worried there is something else going on. Thank you

Hi and welcome! This is EXACTLY the right place to post this, so well done. ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Any major change in symptoms should be properly checked out by a GI doc and your GP to check that nothing else is going on. So pester for having the tests again...a bore, I know, but always better safe than sorry! ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
However, IBS can change, so it could well be that. Are you going through the menopause? Hormonal changes like that could well be the reason for the change in your symptoms.
Also, are you on a SFS?
