Hi Crystal2,
Beano will counteract the effects of SOME gas producing foods, but not all. I've found that I have had to experiment with different remedies.
I will swallow a whole handful of things before going to a lunch meeting or other enclosed area over which I can't control the foods offered:
Digestive Enzymes (jazzed-up Beano) - at least one Charcoal capsules - two to four caps Gas-X - two tablets
I take more charcoal than the label says to take. I have found that I might still have a little gas, but the smell is ameliorated quite a bit.
Good luck. Hope it helps. Also, read this.

I bought some bean-o recently because I thought it might help me get in more IF, like beans and soy products, but I noticed that it has mannitol in it. Isn't that supposed to be bad for IBS because it's an artificial sweetener?? I'm so confused!! Is it such a small amount that it probably doesn't matter? Thanks for advice on this!!

Yep mannitol is bad...and the artificial sweeteners are so strong that you only need a tiny bit! I'm surprised no-one's noticed this before. It's one reason why I stopped using OTC products over here as lots of them are sweetened.
Plus, I find good fennel tea to be more effective anyway.
