Hi everyone,

First of all, I'm not sure if I'm on the right message board but I just wanted some advice and support. I realize that it's not a site for medical advice but was wondering if any of you have experienced what I've been going through.

For the past month and 1/2, I've been undiagnosed. I've been having IBS-D constantly. Same symptoms as described on the board, bloating, rushing to the washroom, etc...I'm in a stressful stage in my life as well so I needed immediate help. Went to the doctor, took a stool sample in and all I got in return was, "Oh, you have a lot of white blood cells as a result, you may just be stressed out and please go on a liquid diet for 2-3 days" I honestly can't afford a liquid diet as I'm already underweight. I'm not asking for medical advice but have any of you experienced this response? The reason why I've taken this IBS site so seriously is because the same problem happened last year too and I haven't had a definite diagnosis yet.

Last thing I want to say is great book Heather! I've purchased it and have tried out your Zuchini Bread. Really great!! My boyfriend and I love it for breakfast.

I'm trying your soluable only diet. It's helping to settle my tummy problems especially the tea. How long does it usually take until improvement. Thanks for the time and thanks for existing even if I am undiagnosed. Your book has been of great help to me.

Jill

I went through 3 GPs before I found one who'd take me seriously...one even said that having 10+ bms a day and always being dehydrated must just be NORMAL for me!

Do NOT do a liquid diet. If it does turn out to be IBS then that's the wort thing you could do. The BRAT (Bananas-Rice-Applesauce-Toast) diet is a far better suggestion and is more standard advice! Plus, ask your pharmacist for rehydration salts - these are usually given to kids with D but are good for anyone with D. And Immodium is fantastic.

Here's a thread about doctors who are good for IBS patients. You can look through all the posts and see if there's a doctor listed in your area. If not, you can always do a new post asking if anyone has any recommendations.

Welcome. Heather's diet has been great for me and the people on the Boards are wonderful.
