I have two questions regarding soluble fiber: I am new to this diet (and site) and have a couple of questions: 1)I am doing so much better since cutting out insoluble fiber foods such as bran and whole wheat products and sticking with white rice and white flour products and cereals. My questions are as follows: if these more refined grains are considered soluble fiber, why do products made with them (rice and corn based cereals, white-flour breads, various types of white rice etc.) list their dietary fiber content as near 0? 2)Does anyone know of specific scientific studies looking at the efficacy and safety of acacia as a long-term-use fiber supplement? I'd really appreciate any citations. Thanks so much!

1) quite often food labels just refer to the IF content as the fibre content. So foods high in SF and low in IF can have low (or zero) amounts of fibre on the label. Unfortunately, this isn't ALWAYS the case so you can't use labels to check for low IF content!

2) Heather's Acacia Tummy Fibre hasn't been around very long and there isn't that much interest in regular IBS so there are no studies. I've been on it for over a year and am doing great.
