I don't have a box handy to check the ingredients. I know plain are okay, but don't know about Honey Nut. Usually my dad has some, but there's none in the house now. Figures. Hopefully someone else will know what's in them.

I eat them all the time. The nuts are so finely ground it doesn't really add any fiber.
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Howdy! Okay, I happen to have a box here. (I'm IBS-D and haven't had a problem with either kind of Cheerios. I prefer the plain Cheerios taste. Actually, I think I'm addicted to the original Cheerios, at one point I was eating three or more bowls a day! )
Honey Nut Cheerios Ingredients: whole grain oats (includes the oat bran), sugar, oat bran, modified corn starch, honey, brown sugar syrup, salt, ground almonds, calcium carbonate, tripotassium phosphate, wheat flour, vitamin e (mixed tocopherols) added to preserve freshness.
A serving size (1 cup) contains LESS that 1 g of soluble fiber. Original/plain Cheerios contain 1 g of soluble fiber.

I have much success with Honey Nut Cheerios as they keep me very regular and helps me avoid the "C" part of my IBS-A. I was also eating and mixing Honey Nut Cheerios with minimal Shredded Wheat cereal and Silk Soy Milk. I noticed this too was keeping me on track. I got scared when I read a posting about whether or not to eat wheat and what type of wheat products, so since last summer I started avoiding eating Shredded Wheat but I really miss it. It seems too in helping me stay regular and avoiding constipation.
I can eat a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and withi a couple of hours at the most it relieves me. I think it's OK. Also have checked with the Registered Dietician (free service) through Blue Shield and Blue Cross who also stated that the Honey Nut shouldn't be a problem.
Hope this was helpful! Take care. Heidi
