I have been sick for the past few days..like a really bad cold, sore throat, chills, etc...and I stayed home from school today actually had really bad D....I don't think its my IBS acting up cause I've been eating pretty well. I'm not sure if it is a stomach virus or something. I guess I can't really tell, can I? I am wondering what to eat that wont make me sick because of this virus and my IBS? I hope that all made some sense. If you have any comments..please leave them.

hmm I would play it safe, how about some white rice or applesauce or oatmeal, filling but not too hard on the tummy I am either going through an attack myself or have caught a bug, you are right it is so hard to tell the difference. I am actually hoping it is a bug sine I have felt stable for about a month now and up until lastnight couldn't remember the last time I had D and had to pull put the heating pad.

...eating LOTS of safe SF foods will make your GI system happier and should stop the D. Try some immodium too to take the edge off.
My IBS acts up sometimes when another part of my body is sick, even if I've been stable for a while and haven't done anything wrong!
I'm battling a vicious cold myself right now but happily my IBS is staying quiet. Hope you're feeling better soon!!

I know when I am really sick because stuff goes straight through, and usually my IBS takes a little while before I actually get sick. Also, if you are taking Immodium or something and it comes right back, then you are probably sick.
I know taking Immodium or some other anti-d medicine seems like the best thing to do. But my doctor has told me that when you are sick it is best to stay home and don't take anything for D, let the "bug" run out of your system on its own. You will feel better quicker.
like someone else mentioned drink lots of liquid, pedialyte (basically gatorade for babies) is good. And rice, bread stuffs, and applesauce if you can take it or bannanas if you can do them also.
hope you feel better.
