I'm trying to understand how ginger, peppermint, and fennel work differently. Which one works best for what symptoms?
Also, I had taken enterically coated peppermint on and off for years and found it helpful for attacks. But lately it hasn't worked--but peppermint tea does. Anyone know why?
And, finally, how do I make tea from fennel seeds? I thought I had seen a recipe on the site somewhere, but now I can't find it.
Thanks!!

Ginger is for nauseau, fennel is for gas and bloating and mint is for pain. I know the recipe is on the board too and hopefully someone can find that for you. My local health food store sells fennel tea is tea bags. It is nice I don't have to make my own. Hope this is helpful.

I find that fennel reall does help with gas at times. Also, Tummy tea by Celestial Seasons seems to help with everything. Someone suggested it awhile back! Good Luck!

If anyone knows where to find the recipe for fennel tea made from the seeds, let me know. I tried making some but it seemed too strong (or maybe it's because I don't like the flavor!). Thanks!!

Hi - you don't need a recipe, just brew the seeds. If that seemed to strong, use fewer seeds and see how like that. You can also try anise seeds - they're great for bloating and cramps, and taste like a lighter, sweeter version of fennel.

Thanks!!! Just wanted to make sure it wasn't some special concoction and was afraid it could cause a problem if it was too strong!! The anise sounds good--I'll have to try that!

it's just a matter of what you can tolerate for the taste. Personally, I like the stuff brewed very strongly (my peppermint tea is black!) But if that will keep you from wanting to actually drink it, then brew it to taste. There's no bad side effects or risks from the IBS-friendly herbs, so use generously and often. ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
