I take Heather's Acacia fiber morning and night, magnesium morning and night, eat balance of SF and IF. I don't know why I get so much GAS!!! Anyone know what supplements I can take to relieve it?? I've always had gas so it would be good to have a continuous supplement to help it. I've been taking a probiotic called Jarrodophilus and it hasn't helped the gas! Help! Anyone have good tips??

I don't eat dairy. Dairy does give me gas all day long. I do need my fruits and veggies if I don't want to be C. But yes, excessive fruits and veggies does give me gas. But I'm not eating them too much, that is why it's a surprise to me. Actually, I've been eating more SF than before. But I don't think that's the cause...:( Any supplements or vitamins you know that can help??

What dose of Acacia are you on? Have you tried drinking fennel tea? Do you still eat/drink any other triggers, like coffee, carbonated drinks, etc?

An antispasmodic, Levisn/Hyoscyamine. Most of us are trying a more natural way of dealing with this problem. Everything I eat gives me gas, certain people with thier certian attitudes give me gas....you name it.....so, at the advice of my GI, I take the HYO every day and it works like a charm. love it !!! The timed released for of course.

Try drinking peppermint tea with your meals.
Funny thing with me is that I find certain SF foods (eaten at night)like white bread, pasta basically anything with white flour gives me gas at night but not when i eat it in the AM!!?? So Try eating say rice noodles for dinner or roasted potatoes and keep your fruit to a min. at night.
Works pretty good for me. I also take a digestive enzyme before each meal. It's different than a probiotic, although I take those too!
Good luck and hang in there! I get the gas problem BAD too.

Hi BL,
Yep, I had the exact problem as you. BTW, I'm a "D".
I was taking Heather's Acacia and Jarro as well. I continued with the Jarro but cut back on the Acacia, and the gas disappeared altogether. You might try a little less of the Acacia and see how you do.

Don't the anti-spasmodics give you constipation? Or are you a D?
BTW, have you started back on an SFS yet. I remember you said you were going to try one again, after much urging from others!

do you eat in a day? It may not seem like a lot to you, but perhaps it is too much for the IBS. Many people without IBS eat 5-9 servings a day, but perhaps you can only do one fruit and a few veggies well cooked.
Maybe it's the type of fruits and veggies you are eating? What are you eating?
Also, someone told me to concentrate more on veggies than fruit as they are easier to digest??
I have extreme gas too and have yet to pinpoint the cause. I don't eat gassy veggies at all (no broccoli, cabbage, salad, onions, garlic, etc) so I have no idea where the gas is coming from!!!
In other words, I am in the same boat as you!! If you find something that helps, please post. Gas X and fennel tea don't seem to make that big a difference, but maybe they help expel it easier so that it is not trapped and that is better than trapped.
Also, some have taken charcoal tablets, but those absorb meds so I don't recommend those on a daily basis. They actually give charcoal to people who have OD, so I would worry about them absorbing the good stuff too.
GL!
