Sluggish food vs. energizing food

I am a big believer that food effects our mood, our energy levels, etc. I find that when I get too much sugar I get really tired and out of it. I also find this happens when I don't drink enough.
What are some foods you find give you energy? I find water gives me energy! I find eating small amounts instead of big meals gives me energy. I don't have any specific foods that are energy boosters though...that's where you come in! If you have any foods that you find help give you extra energy, please share!
Thanks everyone!
*hugs*

My favorite food for perking me up and not "weighing me down" and when I want something I can enjoy but want to know it is totally safe, plus it's completely balanced nutrition, little of everything in this:
big bowl of rice chex, with soy milk (as low fat as I can find), with a whole sliced ripe (soft) banana, and raisins mixed in. I can tolerate raisins and actually need a little of that kind of thing being C, but have to have all that soluble fiber to counter it. Anyway, it's light and packs a punch for energy, at least for me!

Hi Ruchie- What interesting timing (for me!). Last night I made and ate milk gravy (something I haven't had in forever, but was craving after making bacon for the family). I've felt sluggish and like crap ever since. You know what, it didn't even taste that great. I don't know what I was thinking. I've been under a lot of stress lately and just wanted some comfort food - lapse in judgment. I'm going to put this thread in My Favorites so I can keep abreast of any ideas anyone has! Sorry I couldn't be of help! However, I totally agree about the water. If I don't drink enough water in a day, I don't feel great. I've read that the body is typically dehydrated and that if you feel thirsty that is a sign of dehydration. Good luck and keep the fluids going.
