Can someone tell me if psyllium (sp?) is good for you - I seem to remember somewhere on this site that it was not. I just came from the health food store and they indicated it was to be good for cramping. Help??

I have never used it only because everything I've ever read on it indicates that it tends to cause excess gas and bloating, especially for sensitive tummies! I'd try another type of SFS first. Just a thought

I totally disagree. PSyllium and inulin are know culprits of gas and bloating - and cramping. Here's a page that explains why: web page

...it IS a SFS which is probably where the HFS got that idea from. It's just that it's one of the worst SFS!

If you have IBS and only take psyllium as a SFS (which I did until I found Heather and Acacia) then it will help some, just not nearly as much as a different SFS would do!
