HI everyone,
So I havn't been digesting my food all that well for the past few days and I've noticed something with my pooh that I'm not so sure about. I han't had any liquid D yet (knock on wood) but I have had lots of really mushy pooh and after I go I notice this slight film on the surface of the water, almost like somebody poored a tablespoon or so of melted butter in there (sorry if this sounds really gross!) My diet has not been overly fatty either, so I don't think its gease unless I'm really just not absorbing any fat at all, because fat content in my food hadn't increased at all recently. Any ideas on what could be causing this? I was doing alot better last week, so I'm hoping to turn a better corner here soon and stop worrying about this - I know the worrying only makes things worse.
I'll go back to sipping my peppermint tea now - that makes me happy.

I used to have this ALL the time, and was eating barely any fat at all. Not sure what it was, but it does happen now when things get a little out of whack. It could be a sign of malabsorption also. Do you have a GI doctor? If this is a new symptom, maybe ask them about it. Do you have any other symptoms, nausea, etc? Just to make sure you don't have a parasitic/bacterial illness. But, since mucus in the stool is common with IBS, it could be related to that.
