I know that people have sworn by excerise to help alleviate constipation. Is there a particular type of exercise that is most helpful?...Yoga, walking, stretching? or does it need to be more rigorous like aroebics, pilates, weights, treadmills, crunches...on the machines at the gyms?

I find a brisk 1/2 hour- 45 minute walk to be quite helpful. I think any exercise would be helpful, but it doesn't need to be any fancier or more strenuous than a walk.

The yoga poses I'll have to check out! I live in an apartment so no stairs unless I go out into the hallway, but that may bother my neighbors! What is high elevation stair climber? Something at a gym or something you buy for your own home?

maybe I should have said use a higher incline on the stair climber...it is a setting on the machine that I use at the gym...the higher incline makes your body feel like your going up hill.

strengthening exercises help as they may tone up or give more strength to the bowel muscles thus increasing the ablility to have a BM? Geez, I don't think I could even do a sit-up!!

How about other suggestions?

Is there anything else that would help in addition to walking? What do you exercisers find most helpful?
