I've seen some people say that taking one acidophilus pill a day helps with IBS-C, so I went to the store to check some out. Except I notice that different brands contain different amounts in each dose. So how much is in the one pill that helps?

Hi, I'm doing a lot of different things so I'm not sure which is helping but I've been taking a probiotic called PB8 for a couple of weeks now. I take one pill twice a day & although my diet could be better, I still have a BM at least every other day. Sometimes every day. This probiotic has acidophilus in it as well as a bunch of other stuff. I think it's part of what's helping me with my C.

Do you know if the PB8 is in a blue bottle or the green? And does it contain FOS as an ingredient? PB8 has been recommended before but I don't know which type is better- the one with FOS or the ones without. I think they make 3 kind, 2 in blue bottle and one in green.
Also, do you take it with meals or before meals. I take mine an 30 to 60 minutes before a meal, but don't know if that is best. Please help!

Hi there Beth! How are you feeling today?
Just have a quick question for you - what does FOS stand for? I feel like I should know, but I don't ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif) Help please ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
Thank you much!

Feel yucky as usual! But thanks for asking! My tummy is just in so much pain. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm doing everything the books say to do!
Anyhow, FOS stands for Fructooligosaccharides! It is known to cause gas, bloat, cramps, abdominal pain, and diarrhea in people, especially if you are prone to those anyways. Supposedy, it ferments in your system because it is undigestable and that's what causes the problems.
That being said, some products that contain FOS promote it as a good thing. But I'm not taking any chances! I found out my info on doing a google search and found some interesting articles on it.
