It rips up my mouth and my tummy too. I get mouth sores on my tongue and inside my mouth if I drink or eat anything flavored with oranges. Lemon juice and vinegar do this to me too.
But in my stomach I feel the acid for hours afterwards, even if I'm having a stable day and for some reason my stomach doesn't go out. OJ is not for me, sadly! Love the smell of a peeling orange, tho!

Oh yeah! The acid, the fructose.....! Yowza!
Best avoided in my opinion! I've found apple and mango juice makes a nice (and far safer) substitute.

Orange juice, especially the pure stuff that they sell in cartons completely wrecks my stomach!! I cant even have just one tiny sip or I feel ill straight away! I havent touched the stuff for a few years now because of that and never will. Ive found cranberry juice to be the best...although juice of any kind on an empty stomach can cause problems.

I've really missed fruit juice...I haven't drank anything but water and peppermint tea for the past week. I'm trying to get stable and not eat/drink anything that might cause problems. I used to love orange and apple juice, but I've been too scared to try them (I'm an IBS-D and the roughage in apples and the citrus in oranges scare me). Linz, you said that apple and mango juices don't give you problems, right? Do you have to drink it when you have something in your stomach?

It's much better tolerated by IBSers. Orange juice and apple juice are highly acidic making them a deadly trigger for me. Make sure the cranberry juice is 100% cranberry - they love to add apple, grape etc, to cocktails.

I agree with everyone here. I miss OJ, but it kills me too. As for cranberry juice, I've been meaning to try it, but hasn't anyone else found the pure stuff to be SOOOO expensive?? I can't get myself to spend over $6 for one bottle.

Hey sophia, Im so sorry you had to go to hospital last night. Extreme spasms are the worst ever pains and I was just like you last saturday night, I was in so much pain that I thought I was gona die...I was all alone in my uni bedroom aswell and I really felt like I needed to see a doctor if it didnt stop...luckily it did, but I was sore for days! I hope you feel real better soon....dont drink orange juice again...I know my last attack with it put me off for life! Take care and look after yourself xx
