I have acne (started when I turned 30 - nice welcome, huh?)and have been taking antibiotics on and off for about 3 years. Interestingly, my IBS-C seems to be on and off as well. I have used the diet guidelines on this site which have helped noticably (thank you, by the way), but I am in a very bad place right now with bloating and constipation. I started up again on antibiotics for my face about 4 weeks ago. Does anyone know if there a correlation? I don't know what I'll do if the antibiotics are the culprit. My acne is too bad for topical solutions alone!!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Antibiotics can reak havic on your GI tack. I get messed up every time I take them. Talk to your Dr. about your IBS he may have another solution, or he may tell you that your particular brand of antibiotics are OK. I'm sorry that I don't have any better advice for you. I'm sure that someone else on this board might. Good luck.

That will replace the good bacteria in your system, which are being killed off by the antibiotics you are taking. This is why a lot of women get yeast infections while on antibiotics. HTH!

Antibiotics tend to be bad for IBS - talk to your doc about this asap.

Taking a probiotic is a great idea, but I think you'll have to take it at the other end of the end to the antibiotics. And using Acacia might help as well as it's a prebiotic (which I think means it makes things nice for the probiotics!).
