For the past couple years I have been interested in putting my poetry in book form....Can you give me any words of wisdom, suggestions, etc. on getting a book published? Where do I start? I also have an idea for another book documenting a cabin project my husband and I did. Just curious how the book publishing process proceeds.

Hi - Well, I haven't really been too happy with either my agent or my publisher, so I'm not sure I have good advice to give. The best bet is to try and find a literary agent who specializes in your writing field, then submit a query letter. You can find a directory of accredited literary agents in the reference section of libraries - just ask the librarian. The agent will then submit your work to publishers. Most publishers do not take unsolicited manuscripts so without an agent, you have no way of reaching the publishers. So, get an agent and then they'll help you go from there.
