I don't know the medical answer, but for me NO! I have chronic tendonitis(sp?) in my heels and all anti-inflammatory drugs (advil, motrin and all the prescription ones) really do a number on my tummy! I have much better luck with Tylenol. Tylenol is a different class of drug, it doesn't do as well for swelling and things but it helps with headaches.

I also take Advil for headaches and menstral cramps, etc. It has always been OK for me, but lately I am beginning to wonder. I am kind of looking for a new over the counter to take.

Depending on the severity of your pain, you might look into some of the new prescription anti-inflammatories (sp?) (that may or may not have as much of an effect on your tummy). I know there are at least two new ones here in the states, one is called Bextra and I can't remember the name of the other one. The other trick for taking Advil is that you can take a dose of Advil, take a dose of Tylenol two hours later, a dose of Advil two hours after that, etc.--you won't overdose because, as someone else mentioned, they're different kinds of painkillers. And the person who told me that that's safe is a friend who's a nurse, so it's legitimate medical information.
