Is stuffing the premade mix you buy at the store safe? I don't eat the turkey, so I am trying to figure out what will be safe to eat on Thanksgiving. Canied Yams (the ones with just the marshmallows on top) are safe right? ANyone have any suggestions as to what we can eat on Thansgiving. Thanks.

There are certainly some things you can eat for Thanksgiving. Turkey but eat the white meat only, b/c dark meat and the skin are high in fat. Cranberry sauce should be safe but check the ingredients if store bought. I make mashed potatoes all the time w/ soy butter and soy milk. If the stuffing is homemade you can eat as a soluble fiber base. I would be careful of the store bought brands most contain HFCS, Whey, and citric acid which are IBS triggers. Try to look up past newsletters b/c I came across one about Thanksgiving recipes and tips awhile back when I was browsing site. Also Heather has a delicious candied sweet potatoes recipe in her cookbook that I make all the time and they are yummy! I found the recipe on the site here it is:
Makes 6 Servings 2 tablespoons canola oil 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch slices 1 cup water 1/2 cup packed brown sugar dash salt dash cayenne, or to taste Heat the oil in a well-seasoned large cast iron skillet over medium low heat. Add the sweet potatoes. Stir together the water, sugar, salt, and cayenne, and pour over potatoes. Cover and cook for about 20 minutes without stirring. Turn the potatoes over, cover, and cook for about 15 minutes more, turning occasionally to coat each piece with syrup and taking care that the potatoes caramelize evenly. Continue to cook and turn potatoes in this manner until they are fork-tender. Transfer to serving platter immediately.
Also browse the recipe exchange board and recipe index for more ideas. It is really hard to eat Thanksgiving IBS safe when someone else is cooking but see if you can suggest a few IBS safe dishes to the cook if you feel comfortable enough.

I won't be home this Thanksgiving. We are going to a resturant with my family this year we normally eat home, but we are doing something simple this year. So, this should be interesting!
What can I eat at a nice American resturant if we are having a buffet, I wonder if I could have the stuffing (probably not) and the white turkey meat (although I hate white meat!) Maybe if it is not a buffet I can always eat chicken right? Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Do you know the name of the resturant? Maybe that will have a menu that you could post (or a link) for us to look at and help you from there.

I don't think it will be on the internet. It isn't a franchise. It is called the Milleridge Inn in Roslyn, NY. Thanks though.
