I've been checking out your website for a little while now and have found it to be extremely helpful. I was diagnosed with IBS after a round of antibiotics for an ear infection. The antibiotics essentially killed the good bacteria in my stomach making it impossible to digest certain foods. My ear infection was over a year ago but my stomach still hasn't recovered. I am getting a lot of food ideas and am thankful that I can come here for advice and support.

Glad you could find the boards, but I wish it were under better circumstances! Ask any questions, and feel free to vent, 'cause everyone here is super-helpful, and almost always there is someone who has been through it too. Be sure to also check out the living room board - lots of comfy couches and great people

Welcome Silver. Everyone here is very understanding and very helpful, you'll find. It will be comforting to know that you are not alone.
The long standing usage of antibiotics can indeed deplete your intestinal flora. Probiotics are often recommended to remedy this condition. But it is suggested that we do fifteen days on and five days off inbetween to give the body a chance to recoup. Reducing your fat consumption and your sugar consumption will go a long way to helping to alleviate the problem. Taking an anti-fungal supplement like Klorex or taking any of the Garden of Life products are also helpful. Grape Seed Extract is also a good cheap alternative to the other ones I've mentioned.

Welcome! I am fairly a newbie! I just found this site a couple of months ago and just started posting a few weeks ago! There are tons of great people here and lots of info and support. I think that I feel 50% better just because I have a place to come to now. Good luck and LOL!

You have found a great place for info and advice on IBS.
I would also suggest probiotics. They will help put the good bacteria back in your system.
Good luck Barbie

thanks for the warm welcome! i was taking all sorts of probiotics and many natual remedies as prescribed by my naturopath. i feel that probiotics have really helped me and will continue to take for a long time to come. i just started taking the acacia fibre. i am up to about 2 tablespoons a day and have noticed to much of a difference yet but i know it takes a while to work. i have started feeling some cramping low in my abdomen, is that normal? my body has been through so much this past year ive forgotten what it feels like to be healthy and eat whatever i want.
