... we can't expect perfection of ourselves. If we follow the diet 80% of the time, we are doing pretty darn good in my opinion.

I slip all the time because I do have a greater tolerance to certain no nos like cheese and pastries. I don't kick myself though because sometimes I just don't have the emotional energy to follow the diet.

so take it as a learning experience and be glad for the good part, and just remember next time to be more careful with the treats..

Rofl- I'm wary I'm going to be in that mode too- dinner at my MIL's tonight and then dinner out with my FIL on Tues.. at least its a restaurant where I know I can eat safely because DH picked it with me in mind... red lobster will do dairy free if you ask and I can get a plain potato with my dinner... probably crab legs without butter (the same red stuff DH likes on his shrimp works with it) or a piece of fish with a dry rub on it..

Don't put ideas in my head. I'll start eating non-dairy chocolate chips just to get that little buzz! LOL

Before I came to this page and bought my little heather book, I had no idea what kind of things triggered me off. I took my journal to the GI and he didn't comment either way. I'll tell you what. At least you know what you did. There are some people who haven't found this site and have no idea what to avoid. I thought I was doing myself a favor by following my GI's high fiber diet and I was just killing myself. I shared my experience from this site with my mother and my brother (who are worse then me) and they are thankful as well. For some reason, it only affects me mentally and they go wherever they want. They drink beer, coffee, eat salad dressings, red meat and on and on. Tons of Mexican food too! (We are mexican) I look at them like they are nuts when I'm eating bread, bananas and oatmeal. But 45 minutes later, they are glued to their toilets while I'm doing just fine! I'm thankful that this site told me what to watch out for. My GI sucked!

I refuse to smack you, but I will pray for you. What you need to do now is forgive yourself and let God do the healing.

You will be just fine. I promise.
