Sorbitol in Immodium?

I was reading the ingredients on a box of immodium (I've always bought the chewable mint tablets) and one of the inactive ingredients is sorbitol! I thought that was crazy - does anyone know if its in the pill form also? Immodium has never bothered me but I thought even the smallest amount of sorbitol could be a trigger?

Yeah... in chewable anything, it's something to watch out for. I buy the generic equivalent of imodium (wal-mart brand), pill form, and there's no sorbitol in it. Something to keep in mind, though, is that some people are more sensitive to it than others, just like all the rest of the triggers... if it doesn't seem like it bothers you, it probably doesn't, in that small of an amount.

Sorbitol gives me C... so sorbitol in Immodium to me is ok because it just does the same thing I'm taking the immodium for.. I do take less then the standard dose.. I start with one immodium and a few times even thats been too much... I could have used a half because then I've swung myself to the C side, but most of the time I haven't needed it since I started the diet unless I really screwed up in what I ate anyway.

There is no sorbitol in the Imodium A-D name brand swallowable caplets. They only put it in the chewable for taste. Also, I have found that many of the generic or store brands often use lactose in there A-D medications, so watch out for that.

I also want to mention that I don't think sorbitol in extremely small amounts is a problem. Imagine how small the pill is, so the amount of sorbitol is tiny especially if it is listed at the end of the ingredients list (they are required to list things in order of magnitude, largest amount present to smallest)

I take Liquid Advil gel tabs sometimes for headaches and "female" cramps, and it contains sorbitol and as long as I take it with a snack or meal it doesn't bother me.

I find that the AMOUNT of a trigger food seems to be the problem. I cannot eat an ice cream cone alone but if I have a little ice cream with a meal, or dairy in baked products, I can handle that. The same goes for hfcs or veggies. If the quanties are small and eaten with soluble fiber, I can handle most of the trigger foods. I just can't eat them alone or large quantites at one time.
