I'm so so about peanut butter but just tried some organic almond butter that is incredible. I know it's high fat but am wondering if it would be ok in moderation. Has anyone had any trouble with nut butters? It's just nice to have a change from butter flavoured oil spray on my toast.

if you can eat the nuts and its pure nut butter you should be fine in moderation- I do almond and sesame seed butters in moderation.. they are so good and add so much flavor in a small amount.

I've been eating cashew butter on my bagels here and there, and I've been fine with it. I was really surprised at that, too - peanut butter has always bothered me - but I seem to do fine with cashew. I'm trying almond next!

I eat organic almond butter but 1/2 Tbsp. max - isn't a lot but it tastes great on half a bagel! That's a 4 fat gram snack if you buy fat-free bagels ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif)

My sister, who has had a lifelong nut allergy, has just discovered she is not allergic to almonds, so I am wondering if they are more benign all around.

I can't eat peanut or soy nut butter. ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif)
I should try almond butter. With me, I know right away if it's too rich for my system. if you can eat it with no bad reaction, I'd think it's ok.

I think as far as IBS is concerned, all nuts are pretty much equal, because of the fat content. But that's really interesting that she can eat almonds. Hmm. ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
Almonds never bothered me either. But I'm in the opposite situation: I can't touch peanuts with a 10-foot pole, but I seem to be fine with any other nut.

Maybe that is why people with IBS are less likely to have a reaction.
