I feel like total crap! I have IBS-C. I've tried to be good and follow this awesome diet. I've completely given up coffee, dairy, red meat, fried foods, and carbonation. I've begun eating bananas like there's no tomorrow, pepp. tea, soluble fiber in general and supplement, and soy for quite sometime. I was feeling pretty normal. BUT!!, lately I've been SUPER constipated, bloated and crampy. I feel as though I added soy slowly and in moderate amounts, but now I'm wondering if that's it. I've tried Beano. I'm worried I have a bowel obstruction or something. I'm at my witt's end!! Grrr...this sucks!
Sorry, very frustrated.

Are you eating insolubles too, and doing so safely? C'ers need to be more careful about eating enough insolubles. Also, how much of the supplement are you taking? I'm an A, myself, but I didn't find the C end of things was helped by the diet much until I worked up to at least 8g/day of the supplement.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful... hang in there!

Actually, I might not be getting enough insolubles. I think I've been too careful. I'm definately up to the max with the supplement, though. Thanks!

If I am not mistaken and someone correct me if I am but I think bannas may not be the best thing for C. I know whenever I got the flu with D my doctor told me to eat bannas to help stop the D. Maybe you should try to cut some of the bannas. Not all of it but just cut back. Good Luck

You definitely have to crank up the insolubles (and fluids and exercise too). I just don't feel right unless I have both solubles and insolubles at every meal. It's not an instant cure, but it will work in the end (heh!).
