I read somewhere on this board that it is hard to get enough soluble fiber with capsules. I have started taking 500 mg psyllium husk powder capsules, three before lunch and three before dinner. I can't take them before breakfast as drinking that much water first thing makes me nauseated. Anyway, I know you are supposed to get 12-15 g of soluble fiber per day. I eat a lot of white bread and potatoes -- is that enough, or do I really need to make sure I get 12 g of a soluble fiber supplement per day? Whew, that would be 24 capsules!! If I DO need to take that much of a supplement, then what would be a good soluble fiber powder option for someone who has done well with psyllium husk powder capsules?

Thanks, AMO

Hi AMO,

I use psyllium husk fibre - the natural stuff - one tablespoon each morning on my cereal. On the days that I don't have cereal; e.g., Sunday - pancakes, I make a drink from rice milk, the fibre and some vanilla essence, into a shake and drink that.

I only use the capsules if I am eating out and then only 2 before eating.

This works well for me.

Bev

What's the name of the company that makes it?
