Hi Heather and thanks again for always being kind enough to answer all the questions from us new members. I am sure you have answered these questions so often. From reading the various post and threads and your two books, I seem to relate very, very much to your IBS. As mine started when I was young. I was told nothing was wrong. I cannot tolerate preservatives, sodium, but can tolerate Konsyl. I became pro-active and from a young age deleted things from my diet which caused pain. And yes, I have gotten many strange looks from family & friends. All that said, my bloating starts way down low and eventually creeps up until I feel like it is blocking my airway (just below my breast bone). When I eat, I get hoarse. Can you offer any insight? Thanks a bunch! Lisa

Hi Lisa - Bloating comes up a lot on the board, so you can do a search for this. Konsyl may actually be contributing to this - it's psyllium, and that's likely to cause bloating for some people. How do you do with Benefiber or Equalactin instead?

I have suffered with this type of bloating even long before my doctor recommended Konsyl to me. In fact, when I am bloated I don't do the Konsyl because I am too miserable to add anything else to my gut. I am wondering if there could be a digestion issue. Often food is passed unchanged in color if this helps any.
