I went to the gi about six months ago. He took all types of blood tests.

A week later, I called back to make sure that my results were fine, and luckily, they were. I was supposed to go back so he could tell me about the results what I obviously knew where ok, but what type of things he was testing for and to schedule a colonoscopy.

Since, I didn't go back, I have no idea what he tested for. I was too chicken to go back for the colonoscopy. Anyone know what they check for when they do these standard tests? I am very curious as to what he tested me for. Thanks.

Any indicators of other illness I think. Not sure exactly.

You NEED to go back for that colonoscopy - you haven't had nearly enough tests to get a proper IBS diagnosis. It could still be all kinds of things.

I agree with Linz. You are living in fear and that is not good.

Call your GI and find out what you were tested for! It want be that bad or they would have contacted you. GET THE COLONOSCOPY. This is for you and your peace of mind, not the GI. Don't let fear rob you of your destiny.

GET A MOVE ON GIRL - YOU CAN DO IT!

Well, my primary doctor says since I have had these problems since I was very little, it is ibs. Eventually, after my wedding, right now I have no more time off, then I will go. Thanks for your help.

I asked my doc what I was being tested for and he said it was routine, checking my white cell count for infection and my antibodies etc and also my thyroid function. I think it is indicators to rule out various diseases, as opposed to "functional disorders" like IBS.

You REALLY need to get that colonoscopy done, the procedure itself is fine, its just the prep that is yucky.

The prep is the reason why I don't want to go. When I ge the time off I will. Thanks for your help.

Sweetd, I'm the dissenting voice. Since your primary doctor knows your history so well, and since you're young and otherwise healthy, the medical literature says that a colonoscopy is optional for you. I've never had one either.

(THERE! I'VE ADMITTED IT TWICE NOW! DON'T EVERYBODY PILE UP ON ME AT ONCE, OKAY?!)
