I go by the rule nothing more than I can fit on a desert plate. I also will look on the packaging, etc of whatever I am eating, and I will not eat more than a serving size, because serving sizes on food packaging really are that much smaller than most Americans (if that is where you are from) are used to eating, mainly due to the restaurant portions that we get places. For bulkier foods that fill ya up more (like oatmeal for me), I will eat half a serving, cause I know if I am still hungry, I can always add fruit, or veggies or something else. And eating slow will help. If you ate your little plate and aren't hungry anymore- don't eat the rest of the pot of whatever you made for dinner, just cause it looks so yummy!
