I have been taking Heather's Peppermint caps and I hate to say it, but they have done nothing for me. So, I stopped taking them for the last few days. Has anyone had the same problem?

I gotta say I find peppermint in any form quite helpful. Herbal remedies tend to have a "tonic effect", that is, they begin to work when you've been ingesting them for a few weeks. How long and how often have you been taking them?

The tea works, but the caps don't. I have been taking the caps for two or three months.

Hm. I guess my inclination is to say, if it ain't working, don't use it. What do others think?

Actually, on the idea that it takes some time taking peppermints consistently before it starts working - I never found tea to really be all that effective, but I take it sporatically -- do you think that it might help if I were more consistant?

Hi - You might try taking three or even four. Some people do really well with just one cap a day, but others need to take several a day to see results - there seems to be a lot of individual variation here. Might also vary how you take them - try right before a meal (that works best for me), but then also try taking one (or even two at a time) on an empty stomach about an hour before a meal. I've even heard from someone who gets the best result when they take the caps on a full stomach right after a meal (I tried this and did not like the full, sort of heartburn-y feeling I got, which I never have when I take the caps before meals). So, play around a bit and see if you get better results. ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)

lots of peppermint tea, and the caps works wonders for me.. I just need one cap, but I take it with my morning fiber supplement (empty tummy otherwise) about a half hour before I eat anything... been debating trying 2 again to see if ti makes a difference but I sorta did that a few days and didn't see much of one, but now that the level is more stable in my body I think it might...
