I have such a sweet tooth and love treats. Which are the least risky?

I like those Werther's hard candies. Are they bad?

I really crave a sugar fix about 2 in the afternoon at work.

I think everybody is different. I can eat tootsie rolls but lots of people on the boards can't. You might see what ingredients are in the Werthers just to be sure. I think they might have some form of dairy....not sure, though. But, I don't see anything wrong with eating 1 or 2 if they don't bother you. If you start feeling bad, though, you might want to stop them.

I keep a food diary so I know what I have eaten and what might be triggers for me.

when I have a sugar craving, I usually go for a fruit roll-up (made by Betty Crocker). Although they're not candy, they are really sweet and very tasty.

Hmm... for candies, I tend to stick with ginger chews or Altoids. The ginger chews are especially satisfying because they're big, chewy, and take forever to eat - and they're good for you, too!

I'm not much of a sweets eater, but I'd totally recommend some of the IBS-safe cake and quick bread recipes floating around. Back before heavier foods started bothering me, the chocolate-applesauce bread from Eating for IBS was my favorite. Homemade rice-krispie treats are always good too. A little bit of baking on Sunday, and you can have treats all week for work!

Hi there!

I remember a post ages ago about this,...great topic!

Hot Tamales are a winner for many...as are most gummy candies. I think the main thing is to read ingredients and know thyself

Sorry I can't be more of help...I'm trying to find SUGAR FREE treats that are IBS safe!

Good luck...enjoy!

*hugs*
