White bread and pasta are both fine as long as there is no dairy in the ingredients or egg yolks. Most pastas are fine, unless you get egg noodles, pasta is not made with egg yolk (at least the boxed stuff from the grocery store and most restuarants), bread you have to check for dairy most of the time, or ask in a restuarant to be on the safe side.
Cornmeal is fine, the problem with your muffin may be it may have dairy in it or too much fat.
