I bought a Mexican and a Florida Avocado a couple of days ago for the first time. The Mexican was great but the Florida seems to have brown stringy veins through it. Is this OK to eat? I went to the Cooks Thesaurus and read tonight "Don't ever refrigerate, freeze, or cook avocados". I had refridgerated the Florida one. http://www.foodsubs.com/Avocados.html

you can eat the brown stringy things, it's harmless. (My husband will eat them practically ALL brown---yuk!). I keep them in the fridge, unless it's not ripe enough (hard, no give when you push on it) and then I put it by my bananas to make it ripen.
