So.... how the heck would I be categorized?

I'm not "IBS-C" because I go every day.
I'm not "IBS-D" because I don't have urgency and I go once or twice a day.... it's just sometimes I go twice in a row within an hour or so.
I have incomplete evacuation (and it is truly incomplete, not just a feeling - I won't go into detail but I CHECKED), lots of gas, and feelings of discomfort or pain. My stool is almost always very soft, like peanut butter or slightly more solid sometimes.
So....?

It sounds to me like you are doing well overall. I have definitely found Heather's peppermint capsules helpful to alleviate gas and bloating. Her Acacia powder also helps to bulk the stool so that you can more easily completely evacuate. IBS is not fun, I know, but there are some answers! Do pay attention to what you eat, when, and how much, as this also can make a difference. It seems that some of us have to put together the pieces of our own personal puzzle when it comes to what we can tolerate and how often we can eat certain things.
My best to you...

Since I modified my diet to be more IBS friendly I only have two BM a day. Before I made the modifications it was 3-4 times per day. Has the frequency of BM changed since you change your diet?
Did you GP or GI doc diagnose you as IBS-C, IBS-D or IBS-A? Do you have pain and/or discomfort? What tests were done?
Urgency is not a necessary requirement for IBS-D. The sensation of incomplete evacuation is a typical IBS symptom.

Hi Dana I am the same as you. I go everyday. Same consistency. For me BMs are usually as soon as I wake up and they are accompanied by cramps (mild to moderate). A few times they have been strong. But I don't usually have D. I have lots of gas and bloating. I consider myself pretty well off compared to others, but I would still like to get rid of the cramps and the incomplete evacuations. I too sometimes go twice in the morning, within a hour. Do you find things are worse before or during your period?
Regards, Maura

Your symptoms sound a bit like mine. Because of the incomplete evacuation I still classify myself as IBS-C, but if someone like a gastroenterologist is asking me, I give them a very explicit description to let them know I am not C in the usual sense. I generally go every day, it just never feels right. Also I spasm up after I go. And have lots of trapped gas and bloating.
